Zusammenfassung:PURPOSE:To manufacture a high corrosion resistant and wear resistant material with high reliability having sufficient strength and fracture toughness as the material for structural purposes by mixing matrix powder with hard material grains excellent in corrosion resistance, compacting this mixture and thereafter executing sintering under an atmospheric pressure in a reducing atmosphere. CONSTITUTION:As austenitic stainless steel powder, SUS316 and aluminum oxide powder Al2O3 with about 50mum average grain diameter are weighed by a prescribed amt., e.g. about 5vol% and are charged to the inside of a high energy ball mill together with an SUS304 ball, and the powder is sufficiently mixed and is compounded. In this way, the Al2O3 is uniformly and finely dispersed into the SUS316 in which the compounded powder itself forms a matrix, and simultaneously, its grain distribution expands. This compounded powder passes through meshes to remove coarse powder, is thereafter compacted by die pressing and is sintered at 1300 deg.C for about 8hr in an H2 reducing atmosphere. Preferably, the densification of the material is furthermore executed by hot pressing(HP) and hot isostatic pressing(HIP). The structure of the high corrosion resistant and wear resistant material obtd. in the above-mentioned manner is formed into a one in which the fine Al2O3 grains are uniformly arranged on the grain boundaries of the SUS316 and in the grains thereof.
