Zusammenfassung:	PURPOSE:To enhance reliability of a carrier device by running a carrier after confirming a connection of a branch section existing on a carrier path on an extension line between running sections. CONSTITUTION:When a command to transfer a carrier 2a from a station 3a to a station 3c is issued, a carrier control section 5 confirms the state of a running rail 1 by a carrier path state sensing section 50. A discrimination section 52a discriminates whether a branch section 10a exists on the running rail 1 and running of the carrier 2a is commanded in case no branch section 10a exists. In case the branch section 10a exists, a branch control section 53a confirms whether the branch section 10a is connected or not, and in case a connection is not made, the connection has to be made. Running of the carrier 2a is commanded after connecting of the branch section 10a.
