Zusammenfassung:PURPOSE:To obtain an electrophotographic sensitive body having satisfactory electrostatic chargeability and little residual electric potential by incorporating a specified bisbenzimidazole compd. into an electric charge generating layer and a specified benzidine compd. into an electric charge transferring layer. CONSTITUTION:An electric charge transferring layer 3 is formed on an electric charge generating layer 2 formed on an electrically conductive supporting body 1. A bisbenzimidazole compd. represented by formula I is used as an electric charge generating material in the layer 2 and a benzidine compd. represented by formula II is used as an electric charge transferring material in the layer 3. In the formula I, A is a bivalent arom. hydrocarbon group or a bivalent heterocyclic group contg. N in the ring. In the formula II, R1 is alkyl or alkoxy group and each of R2 and R3 is H atom, alkyl, substd. amino group or the like. The bisbenzimidazole compd. is produced by condensing a functional deriv. of naphthalenetetracarboxylic acid with corresponding diamine. Thus, an electrophotographic sensitive body having satisfactory electrostatic chargeability and high sensitivity is obtd. The sensitive body undergoes rapid attenuation of electric potential by irradiation with light, causes no trailing of electric potential and has little residual electric potential.
