PURPOSE:To obtain a compact and portable data terminal equipment by providing a mirror, lens, stepping motor, waveform shaping circuit, timing pulse generating circuit, storage circuit, communication circuit, control circuit and display circuit. CONSTITUTION:The image of a bar code 1 is reflected on a mirror 3 and condensed to a CCD image sensor 5 by a lens 4 and a signal charge is transferred. It is converted to a digital signal by a waveform shaping circuit 6. A control circuit 7 activates a timing pulse generating circuit 9 and a CCD drive circuit 10 operates the CCD image sensor 5. Then, picture data are stored in a storage circuit 8. A display circuit 15 displays the stored picture data or the result of a processing such as arithmetic, etc. An input circuit 16 instructs the various operations of the equipment to the control circuit 7 and various information are passed from a memory 8 through the control circuit 7 and outputted from a communication circuit 17 to an external part. The rotation of a stepping motor 11 is controlled by the control circuit 7 and a gear 12 turns the mirror 13 and generates timing pulses. For each timing pulse, the control circuit 7 reads the one-dimensional picture data of the bar code 1. Then, the configuration is made integral while including a data processing part and the portable terminal equipment can be obtained.
