Zusammenfassung:PURPOSE:To obtain a high-quality display device excellent in color reproducibility by allowing the light emitted from a zinc sulfide phosphor layer 5 containing bivalent manganese ions and tervalent terbium ions as luminous impurities respectively to permeate various filters. CONSTITUTION:The light emitted from a zinc sulfide phosphor layer 5 containing bivalent manganese ions as a luminous impurity and permeating a red color filter 9 is used as the red light, the light emitted from a zinc sulfide phosphor layer 4 containing tervalent terbium ions as the luminous impurity is used as the green light, and the light emitted from the zinc sulfide phosphor layer 4 containing tervalent terbium ions as the luminous impurity and permeating a blue color filter 10 is used as the blue light. A band pass filter may be used for the green light. Since the phosphor layers 4, 5 made of the same matrix material are used, the color display excellent in color reproducibility can be performed for a long time, and a display device with excellent display quality is obtained.
