Zusammenfassung:PURPOSE:To obtain the title activated carbon excellent in adsorptivity and desorptivity, handleability and shape retainability, useful for pollution control, etc., by spinning pitch as raw material followed by insolubilization and by blending pitch fiber with the resulting insolubilized fiber followed by conversion to microspheres which are then activated. CONSTITUTION:Tar pitch as raw material is spun and insolubilized, and the resulting insolubilized fiber is blended with pref. 5-50wt.% of pitch fiber followed by conversion to microspheres which are then activated, thus obtaining the objective activated carbon. In place of the above insolubilized fiber, carbonized fiber or its blend with the insolubilized fiber can be used.
