Zusammenfassung:PURPOSE:To enhance the shape recognizing ability and shape category recognizing ability of an unknown object of an object recognizing apparatus. CONSTITUTION:An object recognizing apparatus 1 consists of a light emitting part 10, a sensing part 20, a recognizing part 30, projecting (n) optical fibers 401-40n and receiving (n) optical fibers 411-41n. The sensing part 20 secures the projecting optical fibers 401-40n and receiving optical fibers 411-41n. The sensing part 20 is comprised of a structural body 21 of material of high rigidity, a deforming member 22 coated over the structural body 21 and made of material of low rigidity with light attenuating properties, and a reflecting film 23 coated on the deforming member 22. On the other hand, the recognizing part 30 is comprised of (n) photodetectors, a neural circuit network for outputting the output value of each output unit in accordance with the detecting signal output from each photodetector, and a comparator for comparing the output, values and outputting a scrape signal corresponding to the output unit having the maximum output value.
