Zusammenfassung:	To inhibit a hole cover fitted in a housing from being fallen by external force in a rack-and-pinion mechanism.SOLUTION: A rack-and-pinion mechanism includes: a housing 10; a hole cover 13 which is fitted on the housing 10 and covers a part of a pinion shaft 107; and a seal member 20 which is an annular O ring or an irregular-shaped ring sandwiched between an outer peripheral surface of the housing 10 and an inner peripheral surface of the hole cover 13. The hole cover 13 has a cylindrical female fitting part 13a.
