Zusammenfassung: | To provide a control system for a vehicle that can execute succession of a total running distance at the time of replacing an odometer, in a short time, while preventing falsification of the total running distance integrated by the odometer.SOLUTION: A control system for a vehicle described in the disclosure comprises a meter-side control device, mounted on the vehicle, which can measure a total running distance of the vehicle, and a back-up device that can obtain replication of the total running distance measured by the meter-side control device. An authentication signal using a common key is utilized for data communication between the meter-side control device and the back-up device. In registering a new common key between the meter-side control device and the back-up device, the larger of a value of the total running distance stored in the meter-side control device and a value of the total running distance stored in the back-up device is set as the total running distance stored in the meter-side control device.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 4
