DATELINE BASE HEMISPHERIC WORLD MAP

To accurately locate the relevant points of each landmass on longitude and latitude coordinates, and depict a flat world map with less distortion, which allows the positional relation and shapes of continents and islands to be intuitively understood.SOLUTION: A dateline is reflected on the 180th meridian, and countries such as New Zealand are assigned to whichever hemisphere they fit best. In order to unify Europe, a map is extended to the 10th meridian west to create an eastern hemisphere map, and in order not to divide the eastern edge of the African continent, the 20th meridian west is added from the equator to around 30 degrees north latitude, and that portion is removed from a western hemisphere map. As a result, a world map is completed in which each continent is placed within its own hemisphere without being divided, and distortion is kept to a maximum of around 165% at the latitudes of the peripheral areas.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 【課題】経度と緯度の座標上に各陸地の当該地点を正確に配し、大陸と島しょの位置関係や形状が直感的に理解されるような、ひずみの少ない世界地図を平面上に描写する。【解決手段】１８０度経線に日付変更線を反映させて、ニュージーランドなども含めてそれぞれの収まりのよい半球に所属させることにした。ヨーロッパを一体化させるために西経１０度線までふくらませて東半球図とし、アフリカ大陸の東端を分断させないために、赤道から北緯３０度程度まで西経２０度線を追加しており、その分を西半球図から削除している。結果として各大陸がそれぞれの半球内に分割されることなく配置され、ひずみも周縁部分の緯度で最大１６５パーセント程度に抑えられる世界地図が完成する。【選択図】図１
