Zusammenfassung:To provide a code reader which uses a Scheimpflug optical system to generate a code image with brightness uniformed in near and far sides of an imaging unit, and a code reading method.SOLUTION: A code reader 1 includes: a plurality of illumination units 2 which irradiate a workpiece with illumination light; an imaging unit 3 having a Scheimpflug optical system 31, generating a code image including a code based on the amount of light received on a light receiving surface, and outputting the code image; and a control unit 4 which executes decoding processing on the code image output from the imaging unit 3. The Scheimpflug optical system forms a focal surface which extends from a near side toward a far side of the imaging unit 3 and causes the illumination units 2 to form different light distribution angles so as to suppress insufficient illuminance on the far side with respect to the near side on the focal surface or so as to make the illuminance on the far side become equal to or higher than the illuminance on the near side, or controls the illumination units 2 so that optical axes thereof intersect with the focal surface in different positions in a direction in which the focal surface extends.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3 【課題】シャインプルーフ光学系を用い、撮像部の近方側と遠方側で明るさを均一化したコード画像を生成するコードリーダ及びコード読み取り方法を提供する。【解決手段】コードリーダ1は、ワークに照明光を照射する複数の照明部2と、シャインプルーフ光学系31を有し、受光面で受光した受光量に基づいてコードが含まれるコード画像を生成し、出力する撮像部3と、撮像部3から出力されたコード画像に対してデコード処理を実行する制御部4と、を備え、シャインプルーフ光学系により、撮像部3の近方側から遠方側に延びるピント面が形成され、ピント面の近方側に対する遠方側の照度不足を抑えるか又は遠方側の照度が近方側の照度と同等以上になるように、複数の照明部2の配光角を異ならせるか又は当該複数の照明部2の各光軸のピント面と交差する位置をピント面が延びる方向に異ならせている。【選択図】図3
