Zusammenfassung:To provide an inexpensive heater element with which electric resistance hardly rises even after long-time use while widening a region in a direction in which a flow passage capable of effectively heating a functional material extends.SOLUTION: A heater element comprises a honeycomb structure 10, a negative electrode 20 and a positive electrode 30 and a functional material containing layer 40. The negative electrode 20 includes a negative electrode portion A1 provided on an inlet end face 12a and a negative electrode portion B1 coupled to the negative electrode portion A1 and provided on a surface of a partition wall 14 in a direction in which a flow passage extends from the inlet end face 12a. The positive electrode 30 includes a positive electrode portion A2 provided on an outlet end face 12b and a positive electrode portion B2 coupled to the positive electrode portion A2 and provided on the surface of the partition wall 14 in a direction in which the flow passage extends from the outlet end face 12b. The functional material containing layer 40 is provided on surfaces of the partition wall 14 in which the negative electrode portion B1 and the positive electrode portion B2 are not provided, the negative electrode portion B1 and the positive electrode portion B2 and contains at least a dehumidification material.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1A 【課題】機能材を有効に加熱できる流路の延びる方向の領域を広くしつつ、長時間使用しても電気抵抗が上昇し難い安価なヒーターエレメントを提供する。【解決手段】ハニカム構造体10と、陰極20と、陽極30と、機能材含有層40とを備えるヒーターエレメントである。陰極20は、入口端面12a上に設けられた陰極部分A1と、陰極部分A1に連結しており且つ入口端面12aから流路の延びる方向において隔壁14の表面に設けられた陰極部分B1とを有する。陽極30は、出口端面12b上に設けられた陽極部分A2と、陽極部分A2に連結しており且つ出口端面12bから流路の延びる方向において隔壁14の表面に設けられた陽極部分B2とを有する。機能材含有層40は、陰極部分B1及び陽極部分B2が設けられていない隔壁14、陰極部分B1及び陽極部分B2の表面上に設けられており、除湿材を少なくとも含有する。【選択図】図1A
