Zusammenfassung:	To provide a protector of a liquid crystal display device making it possible to avoid an improper protective activity which arises under a high temperature environment.SOLUTION: A video display device 100 includes a display panel 114 that displays a predetermined screen image when illuminated by a backlight 116, a temperature sensor 124 and temperature detection block 132 which detect the temperature of the display panel 114, and a certain time determination block 134, temperature determination block 136, and PWM duty designation block 138 which, when the detected temperature exceeds a protective temperature, perform a protective activity of diminishing the temperature of the display panel 114, use an activation-time threshold as the protective temperature until a certain time elapses since initiation of the activity, and thereafter uses a normal threshold, which is lower than the activation-time threshold, as the protective temperature.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 【課題】高温環境下で生じる不適切な保護動作を回避することができる液晶表示装置の保護装置を提供すること。【解決手段】映像表示装置１００は、バックライト１１６によって照明されて所定の画面を表示する表示パネル１１４と、表示パネル１１４の温度を検出する温度センサ１２４、温度検出部１３２と、検出された温度が保護温度を超えているときに、表示パネル１１４の温度を低下させる保護動作を行っており、動作開始から一定時間が経過するまでは保護温度として起動時閾値を用い、それ以後は保護温度として起動時閾値よりも低い通常閾値を用いる一定時間判定部１３４、温度判定部１３６、ＰＷＭデューティ設定部１３８等を備えている。【選択図】図１
