To provide a writing instrument which can be used without wasting resources.SOLUTION: A writing instrument 10 to which a rod-shaped writing core 50 can be attached includes a cylindrical barrel 11 having a slit 13 formed in the longitudinal direction, a slide member 20 slidably disposed inside the barrel 11, and a ferrule 25 attached to the tip side of the barrel 11. A holding portion 33 is provided at the tip of the barrel 11 and is capable of being divided and opened by a plurality of cracks 33a formed in the axial direction. With the writing core 50 inserted through the holding portion 33, the ferrule 25 is attached to the outer periphery of the holding portion 33 and tightened, so that the holding portion 33 is reduced in diameter and can hold the writing core 50.
