Zusammenfassung:To enable suppression of delay in display processing.SOLUTION: An imaging apparatus operation method comprises: detecting a gaze point of a user with respect to an image of a real space of a visual field corresponding to the line of sight of the user captured by an imaging unit mounted on an HMD (Head Mounted Display), identifying the gaze point area, which is the area near the gaze point, and setting the imaging unit in such a manner that the gradation in the area other than the gaze point area is reduced, thereby reducing the data amount of the captured image. This reduces the load related to image processing, thereby suppressing the occurrence of delay. The operation method can be applied to the HMD.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 【課題】表示処理の遅延を抑制できるようにする。【解決手段】HMDに搭載される撮像部で撮像される、ユーザの視線に対応する視野の実空間の画像に対するユーザの注視点を検出し、注視点近傍の領域である注視点領域を特定して、注視点領域以外の領域における諧調を低減させるように撮像部を設定し、撮像される画像のデータ量を低減させるようにする。これにより、画像処理に係る負荷が低減されるので、遅延の発生が抑制される。HMD(ヘッドマウントディスプレイ)に適用することができる。【選択図】図1
