To provide an image formation device and a method for controlling an image formation device which correspond to various OS/IPP printing functions in IPP communication, and can execute appropriate IPP printing operation.SOLUTION: An image formation device includes a communication part, an image formation part, a storage part storing a first correspondence table where a printing operation based on a predetermined printing protocol corresponds to each various operation systems of a user terminal, a packet data analysis part for analyzing packet data of the printing protocol, and a control part, wherein the control part allows the packet data analysis part to analyze the packet data and identify a type of the operation system of the user terminal when the communication part receives the packet data of the printing protocol from the user terminal, determines the printing operation by referring to the first correspondence table when the type can be identified, and then allows the image formation part to form an image based on image data by the determined printing operation when the communication part receives the image data in the printing protocol from the user terminal.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3 【課題】ＩＰＰ通信において、各種のＯＳ／ＩＰＰ印刷機能に対応し、適切なＩＰＰ印刷動作を実行できる画像形成装置および画像形成装置の制御方法。【解決手段】通信部と、画像形成部と、ユーザー端末の各種の動作システムごとに所定の印刷プロトコルに基づく印刷動作が対応付けられた第１対応テーブルを記憶した記憶部と、印刷プロトコルのパケットデータを解析するパケットデータ解析部と、制御部とを備え、制御部は、通信部がユーザー端末から印刷プロトコルのパケットデータを受信した場合、パケットデータ解析部にパケットデータを解析させてユーザー端末の動作システムの種類を特定させ、種類を特定できた場合、第１対応テーブルを参照して印刷動作を決定し、その後、通信部がユーザー端末から印刷プロトコルで画像データを受信した場合、決定された印刷動作で画像データに基づく画像を画像形成部に形成させる。【選択図】図３
