Zusammenfassung:To reduce the occurrence of chipping at an upper edge and cracking at a lower edge on the inner peripheral side surface of a ring-shaped reinforcement.SOLUTION: A method for grinding a workpiece comprises a grinding step of forming, on the workpiece, a disk-shaped recess and a ring-shaped reinforcement surrounding the disk-shaped recess by grinding the radial center of the workpiece held on a chuck table by a grinding wheel. In the grinding step, by moving the grinding wheel and the chuck table relative to each other in the radial inner direction of the chick table while moving the grinding wheel and the chuck table relative to each other in the rotational-axis direction of the grinding wheel, an upper edge inside the ring-shaped reinforcement becomes a projected arc shape in a section of the workpiece passing through the center of one surface of the workpiece, a lower edge inside the ring-shaped reinforcement becomes a recessed arc shape in the section, and the lower end of the upper edge and the upper end of the lower edge are connected on the section.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 【課題】リング状補強部の内周側面において、上側縁部でのチッピングと、下側縁部での割れと、の発生を低減する。【解決手段】チャックテーブルで保持された被加工物の径方向の中央部を研削ホイールで研削することで、円板状凹部と、円板状凹部を囲むリング状補強部と、を被加工物に形成する研削工程を備え、研削工程では、研削ホイールとチャックテーブルとを研削ホイールの回転軸方向に沿って相対的に移動させながら研削ホイールとチャックテーブルとをチャックテーブルの径方向の内側方向に相対的に移動させることにより、リング状補強部の内側の上側縁部が被加工物の一面の中心を通る被加工物の断面において凸型の弧状となり、リング状補強部の内側の下側縁部が同断面において凹型の弧状となり、且つ、上側縁部の下端と下側縁部の上端とが同断面において接続する様に、被加工物を研削する被加工物の研削方法を提供する。【選択図】図1
