Zusammenfassung:To provide an aqueous ink composition comprising an organic pigment for inkjet and, for that purpose, to create a pigment dispersion and an aqueous ink composition and to establish a process for producing the same.SOLUTION: Provided is a method for producing a pigment dispersion, comprising the steps of determining a mixture of a water-soluble organic solvent having a boiling point of 100°C or higher and water by the Hansen dissolution sphere method based on Hansen's solubility parameters, the mixture being able to disperse an organic pigment having an average primary particle diameter of 50-200 nm; obtaining a block copolymer of a monomer 1 having an organic group which is nonionic and nonreactive and having adsorptivity for the organic pigment and a monomer 2 which is nonionic and nonreactive and having affinity for the mixture; and mixing the organic pigment, the block copolymer obtained from the monomer 1 and the monomer 2, the water-soluble organic solvent, and water.
