To suppress twisting of an underground displacement meter.SOLUTION: An underground displacement meter installation method that installs a linear underground displacement meter 10 in an underground hole 5 in the ground 1 comprises a holder installation step of inserting the underground displacement meter 10 into an insertion hole 31 of a holder 30 holding the underground displacement meter 10 along its longitudinal direction and attaching the holder 30 to the underground displacement meter, and an insertion step of inserting the underground displacement meter 10 into the underground hole together with the holder 30 and supporting the underground displacement meter 10 with respect to the underground hole 5 by the holder 30.
