To provide an abnormality detection device for a hydraulic elevator capable of detecting abnormalities such as oil leakage without using a pressure sensor that is difficult to retrofit.SOLUTION: An abnormality detection device for a hydraulic elevator includes hydraulic equipment that handles hydraulic fluid to raise and lower a car, and a sensor that outputs a signal according to the movement of the car in the raising and lowering directions.
