Zusammenfassung:To provide a magnesia carbon brick for use in a vacuum degassing furnace, which contains no or very little graphite, and has improved spalling resistance and corrosion resistance.SOLUTION: A method for producing magnesia carbon bricks for vacuum degassing furnaces includes the steps of adding an organic binder to a refractory raw material mixture, kneading and molding the mixture, and then heat-treating the mixture. The refractory raw material mixture has a magnesia content of 87 mass% or more and 98 mass% or less; contains 75 mass% or more and 95 mass% or less of magnesia having a particle size of 0.075 mm or greater and smaller than 5 mm, 1 mass% or more and 12 mass% or less of magnesia having a particle size of smaller than 0.075 mm, 1 mass% or more and 10 mass% or less of spinel, 0.3 mass% or more and 2 mass% or less of pitch powder having a particle size of smaller than 0.5 mm, and 0.3 mass% or more and 2.5 mass% or less of aluminum and/or aluminum alloy in total; and has a graphite content of 1.5 mass% or less (including 0).SELECTED DRAWING: None 【課題】真空脱ガス炉に使用される黒鉛を含有しないか極めて少ないマグネシアカーボンれんがにおいて、耐スポーリング性及び耐食性を向上する。【解決手段】 耐火原料配合物に有機バインダーを添加して混練し成形後、熱処理する工程を含む、真空脱ガス炉用マグネシアカーボンれんがの製造方法において、耐火原料配合物は、マグネシアの含有率が合計で87質量%以上98質量%以下であって、粒径0.075mm以上5mm未満のマグネシアを75質量%以上95質量%以下、粒径0.075mm未満のマグネシアを1質量%以上12質量%以下、スピネルを1質量%以上10質量%以下、粒径0.5mm未満のピッチ粉を0.3質量%以上2質量%以下、アルミニウム及び/又はアルミニウム合金を合計で0.3質量%以上2.5質量%以下含有し、かつ黒鉛の含有率が1.5質量%以下(0を含む)であることを特徴とする。【選択図】なし
