To provide a barrier substrate suitable as a substrate for packaging material, enabling the preparation of a packaging container with excellent recycling and gas barrier properties.SOLUTION: A barrier substrate comprises at least a first vapor deposition film, a stretching substrate, and a second vapor deposition film. The stretching substrate comprises at least a polyethylene layer and a barrier resin layer. The polyethylene layer is primarily composed of polyethylene. The barrier resin layer is primarily composed of a gas barrier resin. The stretching substrate comprises a first face and a second face opposite the first face. The first vapor deposition film is provided on the first face of the stretching substrate.
