SUCTION DEVICE

To provide a suction device capable of placing an article on a placement surface while suppressing an excessive load from being placed on the article.SOLUTION: Provided is a suction device 10 which lowers, as the upper support mechanism 11 lowers, an article W being lifted with an upper side thereof being suctioned and held by an upper support mechanism 11, and which places the article on a placement surface G. The suction device comprises: a lifting body 25, which is lifted from and lowered to a base part 23, integrally with the upper suction unit 11; switching means capable of switching a state A of fixing the lifting body 25 to the base part 23, and a state B of lowering the lifting body 25 to the base part 23 by its own weight; control means for controlling the switching means; and resistance force applying means for applying resistance force against lowering of the lifting body.
