Zusammenfassung: | To provide a method for producing an anhydrous metal chloride that minimizes the emission of carbon dioxide gas into the atmosphere.SOLUTION: A method for producing an anhydrous metal chloride includes a chlorination step for heating metal oxide in a mixed gas of carbon monoxide gas and chlorine gas at a temperature of 300°C or higher and 1200°C or lower, to produce anhydrous metal chloride; and a gas reduction step for reducing the emission of carbon dioxide gas in the chlorination step, to produce carbon monoxide gas.
