To provide a refrigeration cycle device capable of appropriately notifying an external device whether there is a possibility that a foreign matter is attached to an infrared coolant leakage sensor, a method for controlling the refrigeration cycle device, and a program.SOLUTION: A refrigeration cycle device includes an infrared coolant leakage sensor and a control part. The coolant leakage sensor determines whether there is a possibility that a foreign matter is attached to the coolant leakage sensor and has a function for outputting a first signal showing that there is a possibility that a foreign matter is attached in the case of determining that there is the possibility that the foreign matter is attached.
