GATE DRIVE UNIT AND AUTOMATIC OPENING/CLOSING GATE

To provide a gate drive unit that can be attached to an existing gate to enable automatic opening/closing of the existing gate, and an automatic opening/closing gate to which such a gate drive unit is attached.SOLUTION: There is provided a gate drive unit to be retrofitted to an existing gate. The existing gate has a gate body, a protruding member 22, and an auxiliary wheel positioned at a lateral distance from the gate body. The protruding member 22 is a member that extends from the gate body side to support and/or enclose the auxiliary wheel. The gate drive unit has a storage battery, a motor, and a wheel 66, where power from the storage battery drives the motor and a rotational force of the motor is transmitted to the wheel 66.
