SHEET CONVEYANCE DEVICE AND IMAGE FORMING SYSTEM

To provide a sheet conveyance device capable of detecting, by a single optical sensor, an opened/closed state of a cover member and the up-down position of sheets stacked on a sheet stacking tray.SOLUTION: A sheet conveyance device 1 comprises a device body 2, a cover member 3, a sheet stacking tray 4, and a conveyance control portion 7. The device body 2 comprises: an optical sensor 21 including a light emitting portion 21A and a light receiving portion 21B arranged facing each other at both ends in a sheet width direction Dw of a sheet S stacked on the sheet stacking tray 4.The cover member 3 comprises a stationary rib 31 advancing to/retreating from an optical path of the optical sensor 21 along with opening/closing of the cover member, and a swingable rib 32 advancing to/retreating from the optical path of the optical sensor 21 along with up-and-down movement of the sheet S due to elevating/lowering of the sheet stacking tray 4.
