Zusammenfassung:	To provide a reading device that can reduce damage to a sheet occurring during malfunction of a color measuring unit.SOLUTION: A reading device (automatic reader 400) comprises: a color detection sensor 551 that, from a sheet conveyed on a conveyance path, detects an image formed on the sheet; a moving mechanism that moves the color detection sensor 551 in a direction orthogonal to a conveyance direction of the sheet; and a control unit 451 that causes the color detection sensor 551 to detect the image while causing the moving mechanism to move the color detection sensor 551. The control unit 451 monitors the operation of the color detection sensor 551, and when the color detection sensor 551 malfunctions, causes the moving mechanism to stop the movement of the color detection sensor 551.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 4 【課題】測色ユニットの動作異常時に生じるシートへのダメージを低減することができる読取装置を提供する。【解決手段】読取装置（自動読取装置４００）は、搬送パスを搬送されるシートから、該シートに形成された画像を検出する色検出センサ５５１と、色検出センサ５５１をシートの搬送方向に直交する方向に移動させる移動機構と、移動機構により色検出センサ５５１を移動させながら、色検出センサ５５１に画像を検出させる制御部４５１と、備える。制御部４５１は、色検出センサ５５１の動作を監視し、色検出センサ５５１が異常動作する場合に、移動機構に色検出センサ５５１の移動を停止させる。【選択図】図４
