Zusammenfassung: | To provide a martensitic stainless steel for nitrogen-enriching treatment that has excellent hot workability and excellent cold workability, and a martensitic stainless steel member.SOLUTION: The present invention relates to a martensitic stainless steel for nitrogen-enriching treatment, comprising 0.10≤C≤0.30 mass%, Si≤0.20 mass%, 0.20≤Mn≤1.50 mass%, P≤0.05 mass%, S≤0.01 mass%, Cu≤0.3 mass%, 10.5≤Cr≤17.0 mass%, 0.50≤Ni≤3.00 mass%, 0.50≤Mo≤3.00 mass%, and 0.1≤Nb≤0.5 mass%, with the balance being Fe and inevitable impurities, satisfying 1.00≤[Ni]*[Mo]≤9.00 and [Nieq]/[Creq]≥1.00, and having a ferrite phase area ratio of 50% or more.
