METHODS FOR LIBERATING PHOSPHORUS FROM ORGANIC MATTER

To provide microbe-based compositions comprising cultivated microorganisms and/or growth by-products thereof, methods for producing these compositions, and methods of their use in, for example, human health, agriculture, forestry and animal husbandry.SOLUTION: The present invention provides a method for liberating phosphates from phytic acid present in organic matter, the method comprising applying Wickerhamomyces anomalus yeasts and/or one or more microbial growth by-products of the Wickerhamomyces anomalus yeasts, and a carrier to the organic matter. The organic matter is, for example, crop residue, manure, compost, garden waste, coffee grounds, sawdust, distilled grains, lignin, and distiller's spent grains.
