Zusammenfassung:To provide an alkali silicate aqueous solution derived from plant ash which enables production of wet process silica having high whiteness in the same degree as the case using a sand-derived alkali silicate aqueous solution, and a method for producing an alkali silicate aqueous solution which enables production of the alkali silicate aqueous solution having sufficient quality.SOLUTION: An alkali silicate aqueous solution has, by mass%, the ratio P2O5/SiO2 of P2O5 concentration to SiO2 concentration of 1.0×10-3 or more, has the SiO2 concentration of 8.9-16.7 mass%, and has a transmittance (%T) at an optical path length of 1 cm and a wavelength of 500 nm of 65% or more, as a raw material of wet process silica.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2 【課題】砂由来のケイ酸アルカリ水溶液を使用した場合と同程度に白色度が高い湿式法シリカの製造を可能にする植物灰由来のケイ酸アルカリ水溶液を提供する。また、そのように充分な品質のケイ酸アルカリ水溶液の製造を可能とするケイ酸アルカリ水溶液の製造方法を提供する。【解決手段】湿式法シリカの原料として、質量%表示でSiO2濃度に対するP2O5濃度の比P2O5/SiO2が1.0×10-3以上であり、SiO2濃度が8.9質量%~16.7質量%であり、光路長1cm、波長500nmにおける透過率(%T)が65%以上であるケイ酸アルカリ水溶液を使用する。【選択図】図2
