To prevent interference of a cap member to a carriage even if a position in the ascending/descending direction of the cap member relative to a nozzle surface is unclear.SOLUTION: An image formation device (10) comprises: a recording head (14) capable of discharging liquid drops from a nozzle (15); a cap member (41) that goes up and down to be able to seal a nozzle face (16) of the nozzle (15); a cam shaft (71); a first cam (73) provided on the cam shaft (71); and a motor (80) that drives the cam shaft (71). The cam shaft (71) is rotatable in a first rotation angle range (θ1) from a reference point (P0) to a first direction (CW) and to a second direction (CCW) that is opposite to the first direction (CW), the reference point (P0) being the position of the cam shaft in a rotational direction when the cap member (41) is in the lowermost position (Hcl).
