To prevent a reduction in image quality due to deterioration of toner.SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus comprises: a photoconductor drum 1; a developing unit 5 that has a developing roller 6 carrying toner to the photoconductor drum 1, and a toner storage section 17 storing the toner; a toner cartridge 13 that stores the toner supplied to the toner storage section 17; and a control section 220 that performs image forming processing, toner discharge processing of discharging the toner to the photoconductor drum 1, and calculation of the average printing rate in the image forming processing on a predetermined number of recording materials.
