LIGHT SOURCE DEVICE AND PROJECTION DEVICE

To provide a light source device and a projection device that can improve brightness while maintaining a configuration of an optical system.SOLUTION: A light source device includes: a polarization beam splitter having a first optical surface; a first light source and a second light source for emitting light each incident on the first optical surface from one side and the other side of the first optical surface; and control means for controlling first polarization conversion means so that the light emitted from the first light source and incident on the first optical surface via the first polarization conversion means is switched between first linearly polarized light and second linearly polarized light and controlling second polarization conversion means so that the light emitted from the second light source and incident on the first optical surface via the second polarization conversion means is switched between the second linearly polarized light and the first linearly polarized light.
