The control unit can select a first image forming mode for controlling the position changing mechanism 17 to maintain the relative position at a predetermined position regardless of the thickness information, and a second image forming mode for controlling the position changing mechanism 17 to change the relative position based on the thickness direction.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 5
