Zusammenfassung:To provide an on-demand-based hydrogen generator to reduce power requirements under water for longer periods of time when a submarine is submerged.SOLUTION: This invention relates to an air independent propulsion (AIP) system. In particular, this invention relates to an air independent propulsion system for submarines based on phosphoric acid fuel cells (PAFC) with an on-board hydrogen generator and a power conditioning system. This invention also relates to a method for improving life and performance of the PAFC stack.
