To provide a folding device capable of properly folding a sheet without hindering a folding operation by a roller for conveying the sheet when folding the sheet while holding the sheet on a conveyance path.SOLUTION: In a folding device 1 of the present invention, a conveyance part 2 is provided with: a nipping roller 28 that nips and conveys a sheet S between itself and a conveyance roller; and a retraction part that retracts the nipping roller 28 from a conveyance path 20 when the sheet is folded in a folding part.
