To provide a composition for a controlled drug release formulation that can control the drug dissolution rate of a controlled drug release formulation by simple means, and to provide a controlled drug release formulation.SOLUTION: A composition for an osmotic pump type-controlled drug release formulation of the present invention contains a polyalkylene oxide particle P, and the polyalkylene oxide particle P contains 60 mass% or less of a polyalkylene oxide particle having a particle diameter of 180 μm or less.
