To provide a composition for a controlled release drug formulation that can control the initial drug dissolution rate of a controlled release drug formulation by simple means, and to provide a controlled drug release formulation.SOLUTION: A composition for an osmotic pump type-controlled drug release formulation of the present invention contains a polyalkylene oxide particle D, and the polyalkylene oxide particle D contains 50 mass% or more of a polyalkylene oxide particle having a particle diameter of 180 μm or more.
