To provide a recording device capable of appropriately performing adjustment to reduce deviation in a width direction between a medium and a recording head and a recording position deviation suppression method.SOLUTION: A recording device includes: a cassette or a feed tray on which a medium can be placed; a conveyance unit that conveys the medium placed on the cassette or the feed tray; and a recording head that records on the medium. Further, the recording device includes a medium detection device and a deviation amount acquisition unit. The medium detection device detects at least one side end out of both side ends in a width direction crossing a conveyance direction of the medium conveyed from the cassette or the feed tray (step S12).
