To provide a zoom lens and an imaging device which are reduced in size and weight, yet have higher image forming performance in the entire zoom range.SOLUTION: Provided is a zoom lens composed of, in order from the object side, a first lens group G1 having negative refractive power, a second lens group G2 having positive refractive power, a third lens group G3 having negative refractive power, a fourth lens group G4 having positive refractive power, a fifth lens group G5 having negative refractive power, and a rear group (G6), with which the interval between the adjacent lenses changes when zooming, and which satisfies a prescribed conditional expression.
