PURGE METHOD AND SYSTEM

To provide a method and system for more quickly purging a flammable gas of hydrocarbons adsorbed on an adsorbent in a hydrogen production process that includes a desulfurization step and a steam reforming step.SOLUTION: The present invention provides a method for purging hydrocarbons adsorbed on an adsorbent in a hydrogen production process, the method including (i) a desulfurization step in which sulfur or sulfur compounds, which are impurities, are removed from a feed stream containing sulfur or sulfur compounds and hydrocarbons by using an adsorbent, and (ii) a steam reforming step in which the desulfurized feed stream containing hydrocarbons is subjected to steam reforming with heating by a burner in the presence of a steam reforming catalyst to obtain a mixture of carbon monoxide and hydrogen.
