Zusammenfassung:	To provide a highly-strong duplex stainless steel excellent in corrosion resistance and processability; and to provide a manufacturing method thereof.SOLUTION: A duplex stainless steel has a metallographic structure in which the area ratio of a ferrite phase at a thickness direction center position is 40% or more and less than 60%, and has a ferrite concentrated layer in which the area ratio of the ferrite phase is 60% or more, in an area from the surface up to at least 50 μm in the depth direction.SELECTED DRAWING: None 【課題】高い強度を有するとともに、優れた耐食性および加工性を有する二相ステンレス鋼およびその製造方法を提供する。【解決手段】厚さ方向中心位置におけるフェライト相の面積率が４０％以上６０％未満である金属組織を有し、表面から深さ方向に少なくとも５０μｍまでの領域において、フェライト相の面積率が６０％以上であるフェライト濃化層を有する、二相ステンレス鋼。【選択図】なし
