ANGIOGENESIS USING STIMULATED PLACENTAL STEM CELLS

To provide populations of placental stem cells to promote angiogenesis, and methods of using the same to treat diseases or disorders of the circulatory system.SOLUTION: The invention provides an isolated stimulated placental derived adherent cell adherent to tissue culture plastic. The cell is CD10+, CD34-, CD105+ and CD200+, and has been contacted with one or more pro-inflammatory cytokines (e.g., IL-1β) in vitro. The cell is configured to: (1) promote the proliferation of endothelial cells; (2) promote formation of sprouts or tube-like structures in a population of endothelial cells; or (3) promote migration of endothelial cells.
