IMAGE FORMING METHOD AND IMAGE FORMING APPARATUS

To enable easily reducing out-of-registering at main and back surfaces in two-sided printing.SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus, for forming images in order on both surfaces of a sheet, comprises first skew-amount detecting means that is arranged upstream of transport means (clamp roller 22) to transport a sheet to an image forming unit (printing unit 30) and for detecting a skew amount of the sheet to be delivered to the transport means, and second skew-amount detecting means that is arranged downstream of the transport means and for detecting a skew amount of the sheet delivered from the transport means. Control means, upon forming an image on the main surface of the sheet, performs control to correct a skew of the sheet using the transport means based on the skew amount detected at the first skew-amount detecting means so that a residual of skew correction uncorrected in the correction is detected by the second skew-amount detecting means and, upon forming an image on a backside of the sheet, carries out control of a skew amount of the sheet based on the detected residual of skew correction so as to reduce out-of-registering at main and back surfaces of the sheet using the transport means.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 4A 【課題】両面印刷において表裏見当ずれを簡単に低減可能にする。【解決手段】シート両面に順次画像を形成する画像形成装置において、シートを画像形成部（印刷部３０）に搬送する搬送手段（挟持ローラ２２）の上流側に配設され、搬送手段へ送り込まれるシートのスキュー量を検出する第１のスキュー量検出手段と、搬送手段の下流側に配設され、搬送手段から送り出されるシートのスキュー量を検出する第２のスキュー量検出手段と、を有し、制御手段は、シートの表面に画像形成する際に第１のスキュー量検出手段で検出されたスキュー量に基づいて、搬送手段を用いてシートのスキューを補正するように制御し、補正で補正し切れていないスキュー補正残差が第２のスキュー量検出手段で検出され、検出されたスキュー補正残差に基づいて、シートの裏面に画像形成する際に、搬送手段を用いてシートの表裏見当ずれを低減するようにシートのスキュー量を制御する。【選択図】図４Ａ
