DRIVING SUPPORT DEVICE

To provide a driving support device capable of reducing a time required to improve a driver's mental and physical conditions.SOLUTION: A driving support device installed in a vehicle to support a driver performs steps including: estimating whether or not driver's mental and physical conditions are suitable for driving in S41 to S43; and when it is estimated that the mental and physical conditions are not suitable for driving, executing processing of stimulating the driver in S44 and S45. More particularly, the driving support device executes: processing of giving main stimulus which is stimulus to be given in order to improve the mental and physical conditions into conditions suitable for driving in S45; and processing of giving preceding stimulus which is stimulus to be given prior to the main stimulus so that the driver can readily recognize the main stimulus in S44. The preceding stimulus is olfactory stimulus which is stimulus given to the driver's olfaction.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3 【課題】運転者の心身状態の改善に要する時間の短縮を図ることができる運転支援装置を提供する。【解決手段】車両に搭載され、運転者に対する支援を行う運転支援装置は、Ｓ４１～Ｓ４３で、運転者の心身状態が運転に適した状態であるか否かを推定し、心身状態が運転に適した状態でないと推定される場合に、Ｓ４４～Ｓ４５で、運転者に対して刺激を与える処理を実行する。具体的には、運転支援装置は、Ｓ４５で、心身状態を運転に適した状態に改善するために与えられる刺激である本刺激を与える処理を、Ｓ４４で、運転者が本刺激を認識しやすくするために本刺激に先立って与えられる刺激である先行刺激を与える処理を、それぞれ実行する。先行刺激は、運転者の嗅覚に与える刺激である嗅覚刺激である。【選択図】図３
