To provide a wastewater treatment method in which wastewater from water purification treatment is treated and returned to an upstream step of the water purification treatment, the wastewater treatment method capable of improving the water quality of return water after treatment more stably than the conventional art, and a wastewater treatment device.SOLUTION: The invention relates to a method of treating wastewater from water purification treatment and returning it to an upstream step of the water purification treatment, the method including: a transport step (S100) of transporting cleaning wastewater, which comes from cleaning a water purification treatment installation, to a wastewater pond conducting agitation inside the pond, to make target water; a coagulation settling treatment step (S110) of conducting coagulation settling treatment to the target water to make coagulation settling treatment water and coagulation settling sludge; and a return step (S130) of returning the coagulation settling treatment water to an upstream step of the water purification treatment. By this, water quality of the coagulation settling treatment water to be returned can be improved more stably than the conventional art.
