To provide an image forming apparatus and a program that can prevent a situation where the image forming apparatus cannot predict an abnormality and a failure around a driving unit.SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus of an embodiment has a driving unit, a first discrimination unit, a second discrimination unit, and an output unit. The first discrimination unit discriminates the presence or absence of a rotation abnormality related to the rotation of the driving unit. After the first discrimination unit discriminates the presence or absence of the rotation abnormality, based on a current value indicated by a current signal of the driving unit, the second discrimination unit discriminates the presence or absence of a signal abnormality related to a signal line of the current signal.
