To provide a video generation unit with which the degradation of a dust-proof sheet and the contamination of a prism and a DMD are suppressed.SOLUTION: The video generation unit comprises: a color separation synthesis prism which is composed of three DMDs of a first DMD, a second DMD and a third DMD for modulating light based on a video signal and generating video light, and a first prism, a second prism and a third prism for guiding light to the three DMDs, respectively; a light-shielding plate which has an opening through which light entering the second DMD from the second prism and the video light generated by the second DMD and entering the second prism pass, and is provided extending so as to cover a part of the third prism adjacent to the second prism; and a dust-proof sheet which is provided from an end of the second prism facing the light-shielding plate to a part of the third prism so as to surround from the end of the second prism to the periphery of a part of the third prism by being spaced apart from the opening and seal up between the light-shielding plate and the second prism and a part of the third prism.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3C 【課題】防塵シートの劣化、プリズム及びＤＭＤの汚染を抑制した映像生成部を提供する。【解決手段】映像生成部は、映像信号に基づいて光を変調して映像光を生成する、第１ＤＭＤと、第２ＤＭＤと、第３ＤＭＤと、の３つのＤＭＤと、３つのＤＭＤにそれぞれ光を導光する、第１プリズムと、第２プリズムと、第３プリズムと、からなる色分離合成プリズムと、第２プリズムから第２ＤＭＤへ入射する光と、第２ＤＭＤによって生成され第２プリズムに入射する映像光が通過する開口部を空けて、第２プリズム隣接する第３プリズムの一部にわたって覆うように延在して設けられている遮光板と、遮光板と面する第２プリズムの端部から第３プリズムの一部にわたって、開口部から離間して第２プリズムの端部から第３プリズムの一部の周囲を囲んで、遮光板と第２プリズム及び第３プリズムの一部との間を封止するように設けられている防塵シートと、を備える。【選択図】図３Ｃ
