To provides an image processing apparatus, a control method, and a program that generate an image file which stores an image group shot synchronously and which can be used appropriately.SOLUTION: An image processing apparatus is configured to generate an image file having a structure including a first storage region and a second storage region, the first storage region storing a plurality of instances of image data and the second storage region storing metadata pertaining to the plurality of instances of image data.
